I am a 9th grader applying for the 10th grade. I have interviewed for Exeter and six other schools (including andover). I’ve got very good grades, for the past three years my GPA has been above 6.5 out of 7. Eighth grade: 6.8/7. Taking IGCSE courses, there are no special classes (algebra, calculus), just ‘math’, but I am in the most advanced class out of seven. Taking Biology, Chemistry and Physics all at the same time. Also, I’m in the top Spanish class. I speak English, French and Italian fluently and proficient Spanish. I am interested in learning Latin and Chinese as well. Don’t remember my exact grades for each subject and haven’t received this year’s report card, but my grades are very good.

I have asked for recommendations and teachers have agreed. I have been told that I will get quote: “a fantastic recommendation” from my head of year so I’m not worried about that. As a plus, we also have some connections as my french teacher used to work at Andover. We also met with the head of modern languages department after my interview and he said he would talk to the admissions officers. Sports-wise, I do track and field several times a week and am on the school soccer team. Would love to try ice-hockey/softball/fencing. I edit the school newspaper, play the piano, debate and dance. I do a lot of community service as well. I am Italian and live in Switzerland, and there aren’t very many Italians there, too. I haven’t taken the SSAT yet, but I plan on doing well on that. Though I am slightly worried about that. Do you think with all my other things that I still have a chance with a “not 99th percentile score?”
I really want to come to this school, so badly, so what are my chances?

OK so I am going to be applying to college prep boarding schools. My top 2 favored choices are Deerfield Academy and Phillips Exeter Academy. I am also looking into Phillips Academy andover, Choate Rosemary Hall, Milton School, and Groton School but mainly as back up schools since I don’t have as much of a desire to go there as I do Deefield and Exeter.
Do you think I could get in with this:

-All A’s except 2 B’s so far this yr (8th grade) but our school grades harshly (95-100 is an A, 86-90 is a B) and I got a 93 in both the classes which would be technically an A but our school scores it as a B

-last year was worse, I got A’s and B’s and about 2 C’s in math and maybe a C in language arts (this was 7th grade)

-6th grade’s scores were horrible, I got a lot of C’s and B’s…but I didn”t really take sixth grade seriously…):

-I took the Duke TIP SAT thing in 7th grade — got around a 470 in each section on the SAT (don’t know what my score was overall) but I was in 7th grade so…

-I’ve taken Spanish since first grade, I am excellent in spanish and we learn as far as future tense in 8th grade

-I have been taking Algebra 1 since 7th grade

-took the World Map Test (test on where almost every country and body of water is on the map of the world, you must know all of them) and I got 100% on that

-Sports: Volleyball, tennis, field hockey

don’t really do any clubs or anything

I haven’t taken the SSAT yet but I am in Dec. I have been studying and I need help with vocabulary words they usually have on there. if anyone could post a link? thanks

But anyways, what are the average scores on the SSAT of students who were accepted into Phillips and Exeter? I want to know how good I have to do.’

I’m applying to andover, Exeter, Deerfield Lawrenceville… Boarding schools like that. I wasn’t sure what to answer for the question on what could you bring to the school. What have other people answered?

Ok so I’m like addicted to this song everytIme i go into hollister I always hear it but I don’t know who sings it or the song title,, but I only know a little parts of the song andover part of it goes like this : “A poor mans cry a poor mans cry” and another verse for like this : ” still finding it hard to breath ” and another verse is this ” you saved me from the world”
That’s all I know but if anybody knows the song please help lol
