I’m looking into applying to boarding school and I wanna know if it would be good for me and if I’m applying for the right reasons. I’m going to be a freshman at a prep school where I live and I would like to go to boarding school for the last three years of high school. I wanna go to boarding school because I think it would be a great academic experience and I think being independent would be good for me. My only concerns are that I’m going to get homesick and miss my family. I also want to know if I have a big disadvantage because I’m applying to go in my sophomore year. I’m applying to Exeter, andover, Hotchkiss, and Choate. If I have straight A’s and come from a wealthy family plus I have a lot of recommendations from past alumni that were valedictorians and class presidents. Also from parents who are very powerful. What are the chances of me getting in? My parents are mostly on board but if you have any tips for convincing them that would be great! The only thing I am on the fence about is having to make the commitment to go to boarding school for three years because I know once I make the decision to go there is no turning back. I also wanna know if people are supportive and understanding of homesickness I mean I usually don’t get homesick but it would be a long time away from home. Sorry to babble! If you have any pros and cons of boarding school that would also be great! Also paying would be no problem! Thanks!
